On February 27, 2025, Mono County Health and Human Services, Public Health Division announced the tragic death of a Mono County resident due to hantavirus. The county has urged residents and visitors to take precautions to minimize exposure. “Hantavirus is a serious concern in our area, and we urge residents and visitors to take precautions,” stated Dr. Boo, Mono County Public Health Officer. The exact source of the infection is under investigation, but this serves as a sobering reminder of the risks posed by hantavirus in our region.
